Fall 2009 Pictures

Just Lex being Lex
During September and October Lex attended a Sheryl Swoopes basketball camp for a few hours every Saturday. This is her and Ms. Swoopes... Its so exciting that my daughter was coached by an olympic gold medalist...
Lex with some of her favorite dogs
Sleepover with five girls. They were painting picture frames and we put a picture of the group in each of their frames before they went home.
Lex was Sharpay for Halloween and if you look close enough, we had a whole bottle of hair paint in her hair to turn her brown hair blonde... Lex was a little more laid back this year because she wasn't feeling so great, but we went out with friends and had fun... I wish Halloween was on a Saturday night every year.

Everyone has to have a picture at the pumpkin patch for Halloween right? We actually went out there, got some fresh donuts and apple juice, then realized they only took cash and mom didn't have enough so we left and grabbed some pumpkins at the always credit card friendly Safeway...
Lex before school just being cute... She picked out her outfit that day
Lex & I go to the Washington State Fair every year. Our first stop, barbecued corn.. Followed by elephant ears, scones, cotton candy, fudge, rides, animals, brain exhibits (yuck) etc.... Its really a good idea it only comes once a year.

kiddos...

We had a Sleepover Saturday night and I think I had some of the cutest 8 year olds around... Check out one of the skits they did... There were a few more and the girls were so funny...

First Day of Third Grade

Alexis first day of 3rd grade was on Wednesday. She wasn't happy that summer was over and she had to start "learning" again, but when the day got here, she got all dolled up and was super excited to be there. She loves seeing her friends and after three days of third grade, her self-professed favorite subjects include recess, lunch, and P.E... Here are some pics of the first day of school.

Lex with her hair all curled... I learned that curls don't stay that well in soggy weather though. By the time we had walked the few blocks it took to get to school they were gone..

Lex' 3rd grade teacher - she seems so nice!

For not being very happy about returning to school, she was all smiles once the day arrived... Someone else took the pictures below and before she took them she asked if Lex would be okay with taking the picture (as opposed to being embarrassed). I said, she would love it... she was pretty excited for the first day.

I took the day off so I could walk her to school and walk her home. She also asked if I'd go to lunch... my response was, "On the first day of school, are you sure???" but she did so I returned for lunch and recess. That night we got together with a few of her girlfriends (and moms) for dinner and Coldstone. She had a pretty happy first day...

Out with Friends - July 2009

I had the chance to go to Southern California and meet up with some of my college girlfriends. I had such a fun time hanging out with them and going out at night.

Disneyland - 2009

Lex and I went to Disneyland & California Adventure for five days. It was hot and by day three I was considering whether or not I had had enough of the happiest place on earth. By day five I was sad to say good-bye to the Mouse though. We had such a great time! We rode all the fun rides. Taking an 8 year old to D-land is highly recommended :)

Champions

After a hard fought, grueling, and super exciting Little League Championship game, we came up with a tie (and the coaches elected to not go into extra innings to play it out). The girls played awesome! We were up 3-0 for the first two innings, then they came back to tie it up and go ahead 3-5, then they had a big inning to go ahead 3-8... we came back in the fourth to 12-10, but then their last inning they caught up to end the game at 12-12. Good job Red Sox!

Ferry Ride to Benson Lake

Lex and I went to Benson Lake for Memorial Day to meet up with our friends Becca & Scott (and all the family). We decided to take a ferry to get there which was fun. We were able to play some games on the ferry and we had such a great time hanging out with everyone at the lake.

How to Make Ice Cream

Alexis had to learn how to do something she's never done so we bought an ice cream maker and she learned how to make home-made ice cream from scratch. She can make the whole recipe herself and in 20 minutes you can "eat your delicious home-made ice cream" (that was her last words in her presentation).

Mother's Day 2009

Alexis and I went for a walk to coffee, lunch, and some playgrounds for mother's day. It was beautiful day outside and spending it with my beautiful daughter is always fun.

Lex Turns 8

Alexis Turned 8 years old yesterday... We didn't have a party but her dad did come up for the weekend while I went to Vegas. Yesterday I picked her up from School and then brought her home to our own party... I decorated the house (very randomly... pink streamers are never classy but she liked it). I made her favorite foods for dinner (bacon, milkshake, mac n cheese, and cantaloupe... did I mention this was her favorite foods) and then we had ice cream cupcakes for dessert. She got a Wii (money from Christmas helped contribute to the gift).. All in all, she was pretty happy with her 8th birthday and I'm pretty happy to have such a great kid... if only I could get her to stop growing up so fast...
